Windows Live Mail

I have just installed Windows 7 which recommends Windows Live mail for the e-mail account as Outlook Express is no longer supported.
When I try to log into Live mail it will not accept my password.
I contacted Virgin about this and was informed they did not support Live Mail and my best solution is to download Outlook Express or Windows Mail from the Microsoft web site.
I found that Outlook Express is not suitable for Windows 7 as it is not a 64 bit program also that there was not a download for Windows Mail.

Any information on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Windows Live Mail

On Windows Mail when it gives you the logon box does it have your email address or your original username, username is similar to ac001c1234. It should be this username you use to sign on.

Re: Windows Live Mail

Many thanks for your reply, that solved the problem.
As soon as I logged in with my original account number that was it.
So the guy I phoned on the Virgin help desk told me a load of tripe about not supporting Live Mail.

He should have at least checked the settings and made sure you were using the username.

Didn't you back up your settings from OE first? WLM Desktop can import .iaf files ;)

Like yourself, i insyalled 64bit windows 7 and found no outlook, scratched head a wee bit then downloaded Mozillas Thunderbird 2 :) i used to use it on Vista and XP and thought i'd give it another go. Worked first time. Just thought it might be another alternative for you to use.

When you "Set Up" Windows Live Mail, what details did you enter?
