Google in Obama race picture row

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8377922.stm

I'm not too sure why they don't remove this. If people were able to get their image removed from Google Street View, why not this?

Because Google is staunch in its defence of free speech, no matter how uncomfortable that might make people.

Unless it's China, of course, where making money is more important.

Bunch of hypocrites.

There policy is not because they defend free speech but because they don't want to tamper with their search results as they feel it would undermine their credibility as a source of information. They are just protecting their product. In China it's censor or you won't have a product so they capitulated on that.

What he said ^

Also we don't need Google, who people rely on finding content they need, to be arbiters on taste and decency.

If you just do an image search on google for Michelle Obama it's the first image.

What a disgusting image. Google ought to be ashamed of themselves. I agree with the OP, individuals should be allowed to have images like these removed.

That wasn't showing up either, but did when I switched from google.com to google.co.uk

So much for Labour's multicultualism agenda then :p:

Wow! What a leap. How on Earth have you suddenly spouted that nonsense from a row over an abhorrent image of the US's First Lady to this country's issues? I think that that says more about you, than it does about the author of that image.

Woah there ... take a chill pill man, then sit back and enjoy the satire. Smilies are meant to help you understand the tone with which a post is offered. ;)

They are also used to pretend to they are such.

Is it routine for you to try to find trouble where this is none?

Flyboy, you do realise that not every white skinned human being is a raceist or a nazi ? Cause evey time someone says something you don't like, your first reaction is invariably to snidely comment or hint that they are a raceist/nazi.... Gotta say dude, it's boring to see you do it over, and over, and over, and over, and over in multiple threads....

Back on topic, it's a disgrace that some moron has posted that piccy on the net.

But I'm sure Flyboy will still think I'm a closet raceist....
