Virgin Media strike again

Am I the only person that has had nothing but trouble with virgin medial from day one?

I've had cancelled engineer visits, engineers who have obviously done no training in their lives, the most unstable internet connection you can imagine, the most unstable tv you can imagine.

After loads of problems I asked for a V+ box free of charge as their standard boxes are as useful as a chocolate fireguard. They agreed to do so to prevent me from cancelling all my services.

They installed it, then sent me a letter saying I had to pay for it. I complained, they said the letter was a standard letter sent out and I could ignore it, I would not be billed. I then get a bill, which included the price of the V+ box. I complained, they removed it from my bill. I then got a letter saying I had an extended 12 month contract. I complained, they put a note on the system saying I wouldn't be held to it. Now, I get my bill through, with a carried forward balance of £59 (my payments go out by direct debit, and the bill shows my payment having gone out, as does my bank statement). I've been charged a £10 late payment fee (I haven't missed any payments, it went out by direct debit), and I've now got a bill for £134.

I'll be calling them tomorrow to cancel my contract immediately. I don't care if my current contract runs until January, they've breached the contract by being a complete bunch of numpties. Do they actually have any staff that know what they're doing. No, seriously, have any of their staff had any training whatsoever?

I'll also be suing them for the stress caused by their continued incompetence. I'm about to cancel my direct debit and they're not getting another payment out of me.

I've seen people being charged for free installations, free routers, and free whatever. this kind of thing happens all the time with VM. it only settles down after you've paid for the free stuff and you become a compliant customer.

good on you for doing something about it.

Thanks Gary.

I have now cancelled the direct debit and emailed them to let them know. I've also asked them to reduce all my services to the minimum packages with immediate affect, and tomorrow will commence the cancellation. Seems the only way to get around issues with VM.

I was with Sky years ago, and didn't have a single problem, only went to virgin media because I didn't want to go through the hassle of getting permission to have a satellite dish on my rented house. Would have been a lot less hassle than being with VM though.

I'm pretty sure changing your packages will put you into a new 1 year contract. So I wouldn't do that if I was you...

Legally you don't have a leg to stand on, not matter what the person said you don't have proof, VM sent you a contract letter to advise you and thats all they need to do, cancelling the direct debit is not going to solve this just create more of a head ache for you, please don't think I agree with VM because from what you said they are wrong, moral don't come into it, they will get there money unless you can speak to a manager or head office and come to a agreement.

damian, if you PM one of the Mods, they have contacts with CF, and can help escalate/resolve this issue.

Thanks, I'll do that in a minute.

As I've just said in another thread, they've now removed the cost of the V+ box (supposedly), but are instead chasing me for bills dating back to 2005/2006, from 2 of my old addresses. They can't supply copy of bills because they no longer have them. They've sent me a list of monthly charges and payments I've made, which don't tally up with my bank statements (which show I've paid a lot more than they suggest).
