War hero ' too old' to sell poppies

I've heard it all now. I don't think a little thing like insurance will stop our Harry from from his endeavours. He is out there in all weathers collecting, I would say he deserves a medal, but he's already dripping with them. Too few of his kind now remain alas.

The very least they could do is pay the insurance irrespective of cost for as long as he want's to sell his poppies..

He gets a big fat salute from me..

It just goes to show that insurance companies do not know the meaning of honour, and the company in question is probably german owned.:p::p:

WW2 has been over for over 64 years - I am sure, if the insurance company is German, they are not holding a grudge.

UNBELIVEABLE
Bloody Health and Safety NAZIS. Perhaps the local Council could/should offer insurance

What would you prefer, him selling poppies or some unkown serviceman living on the streets getting help? I think they have made the correct decision besides surely there is some sort of disclaimer he could sign or better still some insurance company that might like some genuinly decent publicity for a change.

Yet more PC Health and Safety nonsense.

Strange how it takes 2 people over the course of 2 years to get there arms mangled in unsafe machinery before Health and Safety eventually did something about it.

Too busy winding every one up over petty issues to bother with life or limb stuff and always too ready to issue a Boss a warning instead of taking positive action.

It's got beggar all to to with elf 'n safety - an insurance company has assessed the risk, made a quote, and the British Legion don't want to pay the premium.

But what if their insurers say the same thing. Should the local council underwrite his activity to the tune of say one million pounds? This is nothing to do with "'elf 'n' safety," it is the RBL's insurance arrangements that need reviewing. If the insurers are refusing to cover the risk, then the RBL need to consider changing their insurers. They can't afford to pay the higher premiums, so should try getting cheaper. Or perhaps, someone has got their @rse and elbows mixed up and is only speculating that this will happen. What OI do find odd, is that his article does not contain any statement from the RBL, perhaps the reporter trained at the "Daily Mail Academy for Made Up Stories." :D

Oooops! Thanks for that, whilst skim reading I must have seen Health And Safety mentioned and, naturally, automatically went off on one. :D

I can understand the RBL's reasoning BUT I'm wondering why the same reasoning didn't extend to all the other old war heroes who were out collecting this last fortnight?
