It's endemic.

VM's news is outsourced to Highwinds. :(

So it's highwinds where the fault comes from ?
Not that i'm questioning that but if it is the case then why am i not seeing more posts here and on other forums about this problem ?

I'm using grabit ver 1.7.2 build 4 at the moment.

no problems with alt.bins ? i've never used that prog before, how is it to use ?
also is it a paid for program or free as i've seen different versions going about.

Possibly because most people avoid Highwinds sourced news services like the plague? And the few who don't could be so used to the problems that beset Highwinds sourced news services so frequently that they don't bother to comment as it is common place.

Of course if there is the possibility you may be experiencing some sort of an issue with your News reader app then try some other News reader, see if you get the same results.
