PHP CMS / Portal
Evening all,
Looking for reccomendations on a PHP CMS - i've been toying with Joomla, E107 and Wordpress however, all dont "fit" the requirements to be fair. I need a gallery, abilty to control text and a backend and skinable. Love to have some reccomendations.. |
Re: PHP CMS / Portal
I'm just about to go the Joomla/jfusion route with an old phpbb3 forum, but I'm looking at using a dedicated front end before the joomla and just using the joomla as a generic login for phpbb/coppermine/zencart..etc.... Also using the joomla as a way of seperating the phpbb forums into seperate sub areas :):)

Joomla can be as simple as you want, a basic install is just one blank page and a single menu.. Don't add the sample data when you install and you'll see what I mean ;)

yeah, I've got Joomla running for other clients. I't just too heavy. Too many files. I just need something simple.

Re: PHP CMS / Portal
All CMS's have the main basic structure (core, admin, plugins, templates, config)
Have a look for simple java menu's to bespoke pages and or seperates sections (like forum/gallery...etc...) for something good looking but very simple |
Re: PHP CMS / Portal
I think I might just go with Joomla - I've made a Estate Agents site, using the property plugin. So see how it goes.. :D I know backtrack or what

Re: PHP CMS / Portal
The thing about joomla, php-fusion or even nuke CMSes is that it's all dependant on how you set it up, what template/skins you use and what modules are added to it.. You really need to experiment..

Re: PHP CMS / Portal
For simplicity I've just taken an existing phpbb3 site using prosilver template, a coppermine gallery and Joomla and pieced them all together. Couldn't find a prosilver skin for Joomla but have for coppermine.
Site is very basic atm whilst I take the steep jooma learning curve but even so the results can look OKish. Opinions please (link is first one in my sig as Super Tenere Owners Forum (and yes the banner is temp, waiting for my partner to do thier magic with it as I'm techy and not great at designs) |
