Password Update on the ntlworld POP mailserver

Hello, I hope I've come to the right place to find out where I'm going wrong...

I'm helping my neighbour with an e-mail issues. She uses virgin as her ISP and has a ntlworld.com e-mail address. She was having password issues, so we've been able to login to the virgin self help website and update the password for her account (not sure if it makes any difference, but her address is not the 'primary' address for the account).

We can now login to her e-mail account via the webclient on the virgin website without issues (therefore the password update has worked). However, when we try to login via outlook express to the POP server (using the login name and password that works fine on the webclient) we keep getting an incorrect login name / password error.

I've double checked all the settings in Outlook Express, and as far as I can see it looks fine. However - we still can't login.

Does anyone know what might be causing this?? Any help much appreciated...

Can you please confirm the name of the pop server you are using please?

OK, that's correct.

Is it just the username, or username@ntlworld.com entered in that field?

Make sure you put the full email address as the username in Outlook

Really?

Surely that only relates to the @virginmedia.com address?

The point I was thinking about was this, if the pop server is correct, another common mistake is to put the full email address instead of just the username.

E.g. mistypiggy***@ntlworld.com instead of just mistypiggy***.
