Piping TV Round the house

Hi!

I have a (Scientific Atlanta) V+ box in the living room (attached to a HD TV) and I use a Sony Tape/DVD player RF output to drive a Logitech signal amplifier which drives the signals around half a dozen other TVs in the house.
Another HDMI cable links in a seperate Sony Surround Sound System box to the Main TV.

HD works fine on the HD TV whilst all the other TVs can display standard signals without problem and with excellent picture quality..

However, I find that there is an annoying sound delay, when watching non HD stations, between the main tv and the other TVs. - (Noticed mostly on the kitchen TV which is the nearest)

I suspect that this is down to the fact that the main TV is fed by an HDMI cable (and internally set to HDMI input) whilst the rest are serviced through the various scart cables which make up the other connections between V+ box, DVD Player, etc). Probably because the HDMI cable gets the signal out quicker, to the main TV than the Scart does to the other TVs?

Has anyone else cracked this one?

Also I'd like to be able to take the DVP player out of the setup but cannot do so because it is the only box which can give me an RF out which I can use to feed the signal amp.

Would a simple fix not be to turn the living room TV up so you can't hear other rooms above it noise wise? There's no real fix.

Not really as one of us is usually in the kitchen & the other is in a living room arm chair!

I'm not saying whether the first or the second is me or 'er indoors!
