Limit wireless speeds
Ive got 50mbs VM BB. I get the full 50mbs speed when using wireless but want to limit it to say 15mbs. Is there anyway to do this. My brother is going to be using the wireless and dont want him leeching it all.
Thanks |
Re: Limit wireless speeds
The slightly more expensive routers (e.g. Draytek) allow a degree of bandwidth control. It's complicated though. You have to know the IP address range (it might be one IP address) to which you want to apply the restriction. So you'll have to ensure that the wireless link you want to limit has a fixed IP address.
Download the Draytek manual and see if that's gonna do for you. |
Re: Limit wireless speeds
well ive dropped the wireless speeds to 54mbps in the router so now he is getting roughly 18mbs per sec.

Re: Limit wireless speeds
that is surely only a temporary solution? as you are penalising yourself as well?
what router to you have? and is it dual band - ie 2.5ghz and 5ghz. if it is supported you could put an open source firmware on it and then limit bandwidth via MAC address using iptables. I use dd-wrt which supports a variety of routers and is free just google to find:) |
