Email: 550 Error
 
I have a colleague who is a VM customer, with a NTLWorld email address.

They can receive emails ok, but cannot send. Every time they try to send the message is bounced with a 550 error stating that they are 'not allowed' to send an email to that address.

Any ideas where they can start looking for the cause of this?

Apparently it used to work and now it doesn't.

I'm guessing the first thing to check is going to be the servers that they have set up and go from there?

What should the servers be for Virgin?

Same issue here.

smtp.ntlworld.com does not seem to be working for me within the virgin network. Fine through the webmail app, but not from my e-mail program.

Been about a week now...

Sorry, forgot to update this:

Problem solved. In the field in Outlook where you type the address that you're sending from when you set up your accounts, the address this person had was a different one to the main one on that account (there was a number where there shouldn't be one).

Changed that and now all is well again.
