50MB Wireless Range

Hi all

What range can I expect with the virgin wirelss router system. Just tried it and it can only pick it up in the same room. Is that normal and if not can it be increased to cover the house ?

Many thanks

Mike

Any idea what channel the router is on since that can impact wireless range quite severely if others are on the same channel number near by?

The Netgear WNR2000 only has internal antennas and the D Link has two.

Is it near to a cordless phone unit as this can make a big difference in the range of the router as it also works on 2.4Ghz range and can cause interference to the router.

Change the channel to any other one (but not 1, 6 or 11), move away from electrical equipment that might use lots of power (a heater, microwave etc), and keep away from other devices that transmit like cordless phone, video senders, etc.
