How do I change password on my router.

Just set up a router for the first time, installed driver and followed instructions and everything works fine. Very pleased. I have just realized now that the password I gave is too simple and obvious and want to change it. How do I go about doing this ?? Would I just have to reset the router to factory settings and start afresh or is there more to it ??

The router is a NETGEAR N WIRELESS ROUTER.

Many thanks in advance. Tony.

Go to http://www.routerlogin.net log in with the username: admin and the password: password and then you can change it from there.

Ben B, thanks very much for the quick response. I will give that a go when I get home. I will let you know how I go on.

I went to www.routerlogin.net as advised but did not have a clue what I should have been doing next.!! There did not seem to be an exsisting site
and what was there I could not really understand.

I am totally ignorant when it comes to p.c talk, Cheers Tony.

Try going to http://192.168.1.1 instead, same username and password

No the page you want is wireless settings, that password you're talking about is just the password to log in to the router to change the settings.

Ben :)

Yeah, same thing happened to me. When I wanted to change the password I logged on to 192.168.1.1 and it was a breeze from there.

Just for everyones information http://www.routerlogin.net/ is an internal alias for netgear routers which the router just points to the internal IP. Not sure if it works on any other make of router but does come in handy if you're technically challanged and don't know the internal IP or how to find it ;)
