Plus com router Nat problem

I have just replaced my Belkin router for a Pluscom 7 port router. there was no need for setting it up as it was plugged in and worked fine no problems.
However my son has since had a problem with nat type 3 on his playstation3 and says he needs Nat type 2? He was able to message or go to message forums before but since the router was changed he has been unable to.
Can anyone provide exact details how i am supposed to change this to nat type 2. Could be that the firewall is on on the Pluscom router and is preventing connection? how do i turn that off.
He is able to play his games live no problems but speaks of this problem with nat.

I have truied to log in to the Pluscom site but found it totally useless as it for some reason kept coming up with an error after registering.
Help please would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance:confused:

Re: Plus com router Nat problem

Basically, the best solution is to ensure that Universal Plug and Play is enabled on the router, which will enabled to PS3 to set up it's own port forwarding.

Failing that, you need to forward the ports listed in http://boardsus.playstation.com/play...hread.id=60067

For instructions on port forwarding, look up your router on http://www.portforward.com/

I would not, under any circumstances, recommend you disable the firewall. You may solve your problem, but you will open your network up to possible intrusion, would could lead to a lot of other problems.

Welcome to the forum, BTW.
