Mercury Ads featuring Virgin's Richard Branson

Who remembers those very annoying Mercury TV ads from the early 90's? Well if you don't watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrxKeFd6NY4&NR=1

It features Richard Branson! Wonder if he ever thought that he would end up using his Virgin brand and owning some of Mercury's residential business.

That ad was for Mercury's payphone service which was a complete flop! Reason being, all of Mercury's payphones only took prepaid/credit cards and the kiosks could not be used for advertising. Today other private companies have erected their kiosks onto the Mercury payphone sites.

I remember them - weren't annoying at all compared to BT's stuffy ads. I was particularly impressed with the deliberate continuity errors. Sad huh?

I also remember the "Cable - Get Connected" ads with Dawn French.
