Newsgroups - help
Just wondering if someone could help me get started with newsgroups (again).
I remember asking previously on here in the past about them and I have recently got a nice guide from Zing so I know the basics about using things like the altbinz software and quickpar (sort of) but what I don’t understand is what service to go with? Do I go with astraweb or giganews or is there a free version to practice with? How do I search for binaries? I know this is basic stuff for a lot of you but im really strugling with this so any help is much appareciated. Thank you |
Re: Newsgroups - help
Giganews give you a couple of gigs to try it then id change to Astraweb
Merlins Ive given you full info in pm before mate thats all you need to know :) Follow the instruction I gave and I can not see how you can go wrong :) Quote:

Re: Newsgroups - help
Not to steal Zing's thunder but if you register with nzbmatrix (I think there is a one off small donation), from there they have links to an offer with astraweb for unlimited downloads (and that is unlimited unlike certain ISPs that might slow things down) for $11 a month including SSH and 20 connections :tu: Seems like good value compared to the standard Astraweb pricing.

merlins is free and does the same astraweb is now affiliated with merlins since giganews blew them out the other week |
Re: Newsgroups - help
Zing your guide is spot on and I followed that and understood it.
Just was wondering about searching as merlins doesn't bring up what I am looking for and was just wondering about other similar sites mate......didn't mean to disrespect you by asking for other sites. Right giganews for the 14 days and then astraweb |
Re: Newsgroups - help
binsearch is a raw search of usenet but beware you are more likely to find a dodgy there than on indexed sites

Re: Newsgroups - help
Yep no doubt as said previously by others, this is all you need:
Quickpar Winrar Astraweb or giganews NZB Matrix (nzb search files) the best imo Vlc player I probably missed something but this is what i use and it's fantastic (As also said before, don't forget to use 20 connections and ssl) Hope this helps, any further questions don't hesitate to pm :) |
