ITV Net Player Missing Programmes

Hi all,

Is it me or does the Virgin Media version of the ITV Player only have certain programmes compared to the online version.

I notice that the last 2 weeks of Midsommer Murders are not avail on VM ITV Player but are available online.

I have notice this on quite a few occassions that programmes are not being added.

Who controls what content is available on the Virgin Media version of the player because surely it should be the same as the web version.

Seems that they Never miss a Jeramy Kyle though or the home makeover programmes.

As far as I can see the content added seems to be getting less and less.

B

Re: ITV Net Player Missing Programmes

I have just switched from Sky to VM - largely on the basis of wanting to watch I-Player, ITV Player, 4-OD, etc in the comfort of my living room and not at the PC. I have just discovered that the only true internet player is the "app" I-Player. The others are simply catch-up TV (also available from the TV guide - the ones with the circular arrow on them). This is extremely misleading as I was mis-sold VM (I asked several times about availability of the internet services on the TV) and WHY are these services listed as ITV NET PLAYER and 4-OD - when they are not? This is misleading and totally unnecessary! I am not impressed!!! That is why you can't find all the programmes which are available on the internet version - because it is NOT ITV Player. They just decide to call it that to confuse us all.

It's called ITV Player, because that's what ITV want it be called. Same for 4oD - it's the brand for VoD services

Wow. Catchup TV from catchup services. Never would have expected that.

My son wanted to watch Harry Potter - Behind the Magic which was on ITV 1 Saturday at 19.15. I didn't record it because it had the "Catch Up" symbol in the EPG. Going back to Saturday in the EPG the "Catch Up" Symbol is still there but we can't find the program. Selecting the program just takes me to the Catch up TV on Demand menu, but there is no sign of this show. Any ideas?

I agree it's not there. But luckily it's shown again on ITV2 on Saturday at 12:20.

Cheers will record it then. Hope it's a one off rather than an ongoing fault though.

It was probably just mis-marked as available on catchup. Such a program (with scenes from the film, music, etc) will be rife with copyrighted material that would cost ITV to put on demand just for one show.

Re: ITV Net Player Missing Programmes

Brisy, not sure if you understood me (or if I'm misunderstanding you, come to that!) .... I know that ITV call their internet catch-up TV service ITV Player, etc BUT Virgin's version is called ITV Net Player on my Tivo - and it is NOT the same as the ITV player (neither is 4 OD). Virgin Media's version is simply one week's catch-up tv and is no different from what can be viewed from the TV guide. The internet version is the "real" ITV Player. However, the BBC I-Player on Virgin is pretty much the same as the internet version (subject to maybe small variables down to broadcasting laws). I double checked this with Virgin today and they confirmed this to be the case. That's why I'm not impressed - I bought VM Tivo box largely because of the ITV Player, etc, which is not available on Sky+ and now it transpires is not available as the proper version on VM either. Oh - and I didn't realise that Freeview is a separate company and so not all the freeview channels are available either :(

There is nothing stopping either ITV or Channel 4 (or Channel 5 for that matter) building an app that connects to the internet, the same as the BBC does
