Media Streamer
Hey,
I currently have a lot of media on my laptop. I was wondering what would be the best way to stream this to me TV via. wireless |
Re: Media Streamer
Got a router? How's it all set up?
Use Windows Media Player 11 / TVersity / PS3 Media Server on the laptop to stream your media to the PS3. Easy :) WMP11 will stream only the formats it knows. You can edit the registry though to enable WMP11 streaming of .mp4 & .m2t files. TVersity & PS3 Media Server will stream more containers & codecs than WMP11, & will transcode on-the-fly anything the PS3 itself does not support. I used to use WMP11, tried TVersity briefly, & now just use PS3 Media Server. |
Re: Media Streamer
Ive got a linksys wrt610n router. I was looking at these slingbox things?

Re: Media Streamer
Why'd you remove the mention of a PS3?
A Slingbox is for the other direction you want... it takes what you would see on your TV (using e.g. cable/sat/Freeview STB as a source) & sends it over the internet for you to view on your PC/laptop. Sling Media do make something called a "SlingCatcher", which lets you use a PC or a Slingbox as a source, although without a Slingbox, I'd think you'd be better off just going for a straight forward networked media player of some sort. |
Re: Media Streamer
Get onto ebay and search for "wireless media player" or "network media player".
Even if you don't want to buy via ebay, it'll give you some ideas. Also, try this thread: http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...d.php?t=158742 |
