Ntlworld email on Outlook
Hi guys and gals,
A bit of help if possible?? I have set up my ntlworld email on outlook but instead of downloading the actual email to my outlook I only want to download a copy. Whenever I have downloaded an email to my outlook, I cannot access the same email on ntlworld.com website, which means if I get an email in the morning at home (on outlook) I cannot access it at work on the website. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?? Thanks |
Re: Ntlworld email on Outlook
Go to Tools > Email Accounts > View or Change...
Select your account then Change > More Settings > Advanced Tick 'Leave a copy of messages on the server' |
Re: Ntlworld email on Outlook
Which version of Outlook do you have? (2003, 2007)
You need to enable leaving a copy of the message on the server but how to do this differs from version to version |
Re: Ntlworld email on Outlook
Open your Outlook and follow the steps below to leave a copy on the server, but you will have to delete mails from your webmail account periodically or you overfill your inbox.
On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts. Click View or change existing e-mail accounts, and then click Next. Select your ISP account, and then click Change. Click More Settings. Click the Advanced tab, and under Delivery, select the Leave a copy of messages on the server check box. http://office.microsoft.com/global/i...ZA011508031033 |

Log into webmail. Go on SETTINGS and FORWARDING. Put in a forwarding address (set up an new address just for this in Outlook if necessary), enable FORWARD AND KEEP A COPY and OK

Re: Ntlworld email on Outlook
:(Can anyone tell me how I can stop my incoming mail on NTL appearing twice? I have recently signed up with hotmail Live & Messenger so that I can pick up my NTL & Hotmail mail when away from home but now find everything is coming in duplicate!!

Re: Ntlworld email on Outlook
its probably because you set your NTL email up on POP3 on your hotmail account whilst still having both on your outlook on the pc. take away 1 of those and you'll be fine.

Re: Ntlworld email on Outlook
virginmedia.com supports Imap perhaps NTLWORLD does as well, perhaps that may be a way to go especially if you use webmail as much as you use outlook ;)

---------- Post added at 16:51 ---------- Previous post was at 16:32 ---------- Thanks very much. I took away the POP on hotmail, got my son to email me but I still got 2 messages. I then restarted my pc and tried again, without success. Is there any way I can get rid of windows live hotmail? I have visited add or remove programs and tried to delete Windows Live essentials but it will not budge, There is also Windows Live sign-in assistant & Windows Live upload tool there. I hardly ever use hotmail and can do without the rest of the package. I remain hopeful!! |
Re: Ntlworld email on Outlook
I'm not sure if I have misunderstood what you want to do but if all you want to do is close your Hotmail account you can do that by going to your Hotmail account and choosing Options >more options >View and edit your personal information > Additional options >Close Account.

Re: Ntlworld email on Outlook
Thanks for that. I reasoned that the problem of duplicate Emails arose because of the connection to Hotmail. I have now closed the account with Hotmail but the problem persists! Bear with me. I seem to have a further problem. Although I have closed the Hotmail account I still have short cuts plus the details in the other area I mentioned. How do I get rid of those? Any help from you will make an old man very happy!
