OVH (Kimsufi)

Recently I've been having an array of issues between myself and OVH. It's really starting to annoy me. It only seems to happen from me -> server. Uploads via FTP fail quickly, yet downloads run fine. SSH is inconsistent and drops out regularly between commands. Is there a routing issue between Virgin and OVH, or is there potential for this to be another problem?

Uptime on the box is well over one hundred days. Could it be time for a reboot?

Thanks.

Re: OVH (Kimsufi)

not really daft not to, i am running a lot of websites and if any issues arise on restart i will be in trouble.

Re: OVH (Kimsufi)

Re: OVH (Kimsufi)

Can you provide some details please

tracert server ip - paste the results

Also, is your box running windows or linux - what FTP server is the box running?
if linux, what distro are you using? Do you have cPanel installed? Do you have iptables installed / setup?

Server is running Debian (Etch), I have tried both VSFTPD and ProFTPD. Same results (server stops responding after attempting to upload (passive)). There is no cPanel, I SSH in for access.

I am 99% sure iptables isn't installed. How can I find out though?

Modem or router? I have rebooted the router a few times. Also, I used a different shell to ftp into my server and there were similar results (I think from Germany to France).

To check if iPtables is running / has any rules: Type this as root

iptables -L

Looks like it's an OVH routing issue, are they Lynx members?

Edit, they look like they are - their AS number is: AS16276

Personally, looks like a routing issue, at the OVH switch - might not be filtering properly as it should

Are you behind a hardware firewall?

Both. Although if you are getting the same problem when attaching the server from Germany, it is unlikely the problem is with Virgin..

Guys, I've just gone through this thread obscuring IPs. Remember that we recommend you do *not* publish your IP (or any personally identifiable information) on the forum as it can be picked up and used for other purposes.

As i've said - it's a routing issue with this switch

Great. So it's OVH who need to sort out their problems. I'll have a word tomorrow with them.
