PS3 and Virgin Connection

Does anyone know how to connect Virgin Media to a PS3 to access the internet?
I used to have it working but now I have a modem as well as a NetGear router (both from Virgin) and I just can't get an IP address. I've tried all the instruction manuals, PS website but got nowhere!

ps3 has wireless so use it to connect to the router
