Sound Recorder sndrec.exe

I am currently using XP which has sound recorder version sndrec32.exe.

I need to get hold of the old version sndrec.exe.

I've used Google & tried a number of websites but the downloads there were invariably sndrec32.exe wrapped in a sndrec zipfile.

Anyone know where I can download a copy please? TIA.

all of my win95/98/me+ disks have sndrec32.exe on them, win3.1 has soundrec.exe and not sndrec.exe

Sound recorder didnt change between Windows 3.1 and Vista did it? Why would you want an older version? The 32 just means 32-bit by the way

3.1 would have been 16 bit

Re: Sound Recorder sndrec.exe

Thanks for the posts, guys.

I've upgraded my PC and now have 4GB of memory. When I try to record a sound file I get a message telling me that I do not have enough memory to record the file.

Checking with the Microsoft site I find an explanation of the cause i.e. having more than 2 GB of memory but no fix.

Was hoping that an earlier version might not have this problem.

TBH, I'd recommend an alternative program. Something like audacity..

Thanks for the suggestion.

Already have and use that but just enjoyed the simplicity of Sound Recorder.
