Try reducing your screen resolution.

Edit; By the looks of things, you're converting digital signals (HDMI) to VGA, but to connect to the TV, you need to convert from VGA to digital. It isn't cheap to do it that way round.

you may have to clone the desktop on your laptop i had to when i connected my laptop to my tv
to do this in vista (don't know if it's the same in xp)all you do is after you have connected the cable right click the desktop and you should see an option to clone the desktop once you have done this you will then see your desktop on the tv screen and can navigate to any file
it is important to connect first otherwise you won't get the option
hope this helps

i have only done this once or twice myself so not that familiar with it but i did get it to work and watched films off my laptop hd

are you sure it wasn't a VGA to DVI converter?

VGA to HDMI is possible, but afaik costs much more that a tenner...

and that is just for 640x480

vga is the blue female 15 pin 'd-sub' connector - but like I said, it is unlikely you can get an analogue to digital converter to allow connection from vga to hdmi without spending more money than it is worth.

The vga to dvi converters only work with televisions with DVI-i sockets, because that connector includes the analogue feed - DVI -d connectors are digital only & won't work.
