Stopping a Macbook Automatically Loading a CD/DVD

I was wondering if it was possible to stop a CD/DVD automatically loading whenever you open the lid of the Macbook or log back in?

Something I have been meaning to ask since I got it last year and kept forgetting about :)

Yup.

Go to System Preferences > CD & DVDs > It will then let you choose what the mac will do when you enter a CD.

So by default it will iTunes for music CD's, and DVD player for video's DVDs. So I would change these and set it to ignore.

But it doesn't run any program right? I not sure if you can stop it spinning because the Mac needs to know what you just put it in.

Yeah that's right. Sorry should have made my original question clearer :)

There are times when I leave a disc in to go back later and after an initial load up I was hoping there might be a way to stop it loading every time it came out of standby.

Not to worry...learnt something else as a consequence :D
