Tried win7 on my samsung laptop, works fine apart from the hotkeys for brightness.etc

I thought it might be the magickeys app but it doesn't appear to solve the problem.

I can control the brightness/volume via control panel/windows mixer but if I could get the hotkeys working it would be nice.

Annoying that, wonder whos idea it was to make those keys software controlled :rolleyes:

Have you got the latest version of the 'Samsung Easy Display Manager', that was the problem with hotkeys and Win 7 on my NC10.

I'll try that don' think it installed properly, might have to try compatibility mode.

Does anyone have problems with windows 7 just shutting down? I thought it was something to do with my wireless connection as that keeps dropping for no reason also but it cant be..

My connection shows the modem and had good signal but no connection... I have to reboot both PC and modem (Sky)

Windows 7 has so far proved to be excellent on my ancient P4 1.7 testbed and has encouraged me to build a new TV server.

And I'm a Mac user.

Can't say I have.

Did find it rather slow on my EEE but I think that's because it was on the bigger (Very slow) SSD.

Hopefully they will make one aimed at netbooks that doesn't need as much space or have the whistles and bells. (I don't mean that starter edition rubbish they were talking about either, who wants to only be able to run 3 apps at a time :td:)

Just an update on my previous posts.

It is easy display manager as Delta Whiskey suggested, however it required running the installer in windows XP compatablity mode to get it to install otherwise the driver installation stage fails.


Don't think samsung makes x64 drivers for this laptop either :(


Another oddity is that the r505 spec on their site does not match that of the machine I have.

For instance the spec says HD3200 and AMD QL62 cpu yet the one I have has a RM72 and a HD3470 :shocked: Not that i'm complaining ;)

Nope, 3gb

I didn't see the point in upgrading to 4gb in the laptop as it rcame with 3gb when i bought it and there is usually plenty of free memory.

There's not really much reason for me to install a x64 os atm although I may decide to at somepoint.

Very nice laptop for what it cost only problem ive had is certian discs refusing to burn on it, but as I hardly use the dvd-rw drive it really doesn't bother me that much.

The only reason you'd need a x64 OS is if you use x64 software.

The reason most people use x64 operating systems is so that they can get the full recognition of their RAM (4GB or more). Other than that, x32 will do everything you need.
