help needed
quick rundown
cable comes into front of house. Splitter from box into lounge (and TV....) other cable from splitter goes around back of house and into another splitter.....one to computer..other to Tv in extension No issues for 12 months until modem ready light on computer suddenly goes into flashing mode....... (my lad tells me theres a big Virgin van down the bottom of the road connecting someone up  ) quick solution..plug modem into TV cable socket at front of house...20mb on computer but no Tv front lounge Call engineer...attends today and confirms all connections are ok and goes to box down road and 'increases power' states 'you may have issues' and clears off..TV in lounge working but speedtest has dropped by half The issues are : TV in extension is now a wobbly signal with a humming noise and bandwidth from PC socket around back of house is non existant..TV in front lounge is ok Can it really be that someone getting connected up has effected my connections :mad::mad::mad: I need to take another day off for them to come back |
Re: help needed
Post signal levels for the modem - http://192.168.100.1 usually, and in particular, the downstream power, upstream power, and downstream SNR.

Re: help needed
thanks for that
I wonder what is suddenly causing the banding and humming on the set in my extension My son was watching that TV when the engineer was down at the box and noticed the interference appear at the same time but didnt say anything. Likewise my broadband speedtest is down to 5 mb but if i plug the modem into the box at the front of the house i get 20mb (but thats the TV connection) I can only guess the issue is with the cable that runs to the extension via my PC.... |
Re: help needed
If you are also getting issues with the TV as well then you should call up and possibly get another engineer booked, you can always ask for Saturday if more convenient.
