Sky hd for tower blocks
Now I have been told having only lived in a tower block for a few months that you can get sky standard but you cannot get skyplus or skyplus hd because of the extra feeds they need now if this is true surely sky could make an exception and provide the hd package to virgin subscribers in properties that are in this situation , they wouldn't be losing money cause we cannot switch anyway so they would be making money, think il write to mr sky. :D

Sky would be unlikely to do this. There is little profit in it for then..

Virgin will get Sky's HD channels eventually but all Virgin subs will get access to them at the same time when that time comes. However if your landlord isn't interested in running the extra cables you need to use a PVR, your only alternative is Virgin, because the V+ service still only requires one cable coming into your flat. |

Re: Sky hd for tower blocks
Further to my previous reply.
Sky are clearly milking the fact that a lot of channels are HD only in their adverts because they think it will get them extra sales. They will lose the exclusivity if they start offering the channels to Virgin. Virgin (for their part) will probably want to offer the channels to all their subscribers rather than a subset, because the channels will need to be carried nationally, and may well occupy bandwidth that could be more profitably used by channels available to everyone. As such, they may make it difficult for Sky. Bearing in mind the number of probable subscribers in hi rise flats and the fact that even where both VM and Sky can offer it, relatively few people have actually taken up HDTV, it may not be worth Sky's while to offer this service. |
