Leaving Virgin tv XL package deal

Hi,

Sorry to start a new thread, cant find the one i need, I am looking to cancel my cable with virgin cause the quality is sooo bad...i mean i spent all that money on my new hd ready tv to watch pixelated images and lack of free hd service is driving me mad. I have a friend with sky and i prefer his services 10fold so looking to change, however i will keep broadband and phone line (faxline), is there any way to avoid paying the penalty and a step by step thread telliing me how to go about this... sorry im a complaining newbee :blush:

thanx

If you are in your 12 month contract i believ ethe answer is no you will have to at least take the Medium package if not i think you can easily jsut say you no logner want the tv service, benmcr will be able to tell you better.

There is no way to avoid paying the early cancellation fee unless you can prove the service is somehow in breach of UK consumer law (i.e. it's not fit for purpose). If you're suffering from pixelation you really need to let VM try and rectify the problem before you try that route.

If you're looking for free HD TV why are you looking at Sky? The HD mix is £9.75/month, although admittedly it is worth it as there are plenty of channels.

If you're keeping the phone and Broadband you should be able to reduce your TV to size M which is free with your phoneline without penalty.

So yes, if you're retaining your VM BB, you won't have to 'buy out' the remaining months of your contract

actually you CAN cancil your service without penalty as VM have just this month increased there charges meaning paragraph F1 aand J3 of VM's TOS come into play (which state that you can cancil your services without penality IF they increase your charge (with NO minimum increase for this charge to come into affect)) please read this post http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/34765747-post4.html for a detailed explination.....

though bee prepared for a fight with TS v0id's solution is however much easyer to push through :)

Downgrading any part of your package within contract incurs the penalty, you can only upgrade.

Beeman's raised a good point, if you want to cancel under the price increase clause you'll need to be quick though as there's a 30 day cut off period.

You have 30 days from receiving the price increase letter...again it's all in the legal stuff section.

The V+ box is now £49, Sky and VM are constantly price-matching each other.

there is plently of free On-Demand and Filmflex HD content with quality stuff too

soon there will be 5/6 quality HD channels on VM

why rush off and pay an extra £9.75 /month plus the £cost of the Sky HD box to watch some indifferent HD content / HD reality TV etc

pixalation can easily be caused by a simply rectified network prob
