Good Luck, and don't forget your friends on CF will still be here!

Re: End of a era!
spike, sorry to hear that. Been through the redundancy thing myself, and it's not nice. On the plus side, in my case, it helped persuade me to go to Uni (although not directly - I had another job for several years before I did join Uni), and I am in a far better job now.. :D

Re: End of a era!
Spike, I was very sorry to hear this. Having been through it four times myself, I understand how you must be feeling. However, I have been very lucky and almost always ended up in a job with better conditions, better (nicer) staff and a more enjoyable.
I've always liked the idea of running a pub:) If you do go this route let us all know where and we could have a CF reunion of sorts:D |
Re: End of a era!
As I said in the other thread I am really sorry to hear this Spike and I wish you all the luck in the world. You will still have your "family" here and I hope you keep us up to date with what is happening job wise etc

Re: End of a era!
So who is left in Northern Ireland that actually works for Ntl directly?

What about the network technicians in that region? I understand Headends and Telco Switch are going back under networks (national), every two years or so they change things to a format that failed before it was given a chance previously. I bet service techs will revert to direct ntl employees within a few years, or when the contract ends. I wonder how "Manpower" or whoever the contractor is, will fill these technical positions at such appaling rates. The job market appears to be picking up again for technical jobs, so there will probably be opportunities for poorly treated employees to move on soon. |
Re: End of a era!
Service & Networks are still In-House but they too have lost blokes who've rarely been replaced. With the planned merger with TeleWest (when it arrives!) who know's what'll happen. They only use Contractors from what i gather, so maybe they're next. When i walked thru the office the other day, they were hardly any staff left!Half of the big 3 floor office is rented out now & the office space NTL occupy is about 1/3rd!In one office alone which used to hold 30,there's now 5!
If they offer me another post,i'll more than likely decline, there are no vacencies in Service or Networks & the only post are in Sales. I'd rather start afresh in a new company without fear of this happening again soon.Cheers guys, Spike |
