Israel army rides out T-shirt row

Quote:

An investigation in Haaretz daily saya the customised shirts are often ordered when troops finish training courses.

One example shows a pregnant Arab women in the cross-hairs of a sniper's sight with the legend "1 shot 2 kills".

Another design shows a child being similarly targeted with the slogan "the smaller they, are the harder it is".

In both images the people being targeted appear to be carrying weapons. A third T-shirt design shows a dead Palestinian baby and the words "Better use Durex" (condoms).
These people are so inhumane and the scary thing is they have been given weapons to do as they wish.

And people wonder why there is so much tension over there, on top of the 'usual' :(

When you read articles of this nature it brings home how truely depressing and insurmountable this problem really is.

Squaddies (everywhere) are reknowned for their "dark" humour - not justifying, explaining.

I remember the 70's and 80's T-shirts popular in the US armed forces -
"Kill them all, let God sort them out" (with appropriate pictures of Nicaraguan families)
"You can run, but you'll just die tired" (with pictures of civilians)

etc, etc.

Nothing new here, imho - just more reported (but still totally inappropriate).

Just read the story in the Times, and no one has actually seen these T-Shirts - the ones shown in the photos are "mock ups" worn by models.
"The shirt designs, according to Haaretz, the Israeli newspaper which produced the mock-up versions pictured above"

They are sick, sure enough, but let's see the real ones, please, not a newspaper's version of a rumour.

"Trying to limit the damage to Israel’s battered image, it was quick to condemn offensive T-shirts reportedly worn by soldiers."

"The Army said in a statement yesterday that “this type of humour is unbecoming and should be condemned”, and threatened disciplinary action. "

I'm sure if this story wasn't true than they wouldn't have come up with these statements.

Haaretz is certainly not Israel's Daily Sport, it is one of their leading newspapers.
And what is the point of posting a video showing people being blown away by an Apache all to the tune of background music?
If its meant to prove something all it proves is that you have a very sick mind by posting such horrific crap, if you wanted to emphasize the dark humour of squaddies why not go the route foreverwar did? instead of posting such vile content.

I've removed the link you posted as it was obviously unsuitable for the 'family' audience of Cable Forum.
