enabling Hi Def HDMI

My V+ box keeps telling me that I can get the above by going to Settings; Display & Audio Setting; and changing 4:3 to Hi Def HDMI. Then press OK having made sure I am on the HD channel, then wait 6 seconds and presto it is supposed to work. Not on your life, it always reverts to 4:3. What am I doing wrong? (I assume it is me!) Any ideas? I have the HDMI cable in place, by the way.

Once you've changed it your TV should switch to the hdmi input, if not then manually switch it to it, and you should get a screen that tells you to press text to confirm the setting.

If you're not pressing text then it'll revert back under the assumption that you can't see the picture with those settings.
