Vbox wont come off standby! Help!
Hi!
Its the first time my Vbox has gone wrong.. and im not sure how to fix it! It froze last night so Id read to turn it off at the wall and turn it back on, however it now wont come out of standby! I have checked all the cables are incorrectly etc. I have tried to turn the box on from the button on the front and also with the remote, and still no joy! :( When ive disconnected the power to it, when first plugged back in the green light inside turns on but then straight off again, and the red light on the front stays on all the time. Does anyone know what to do when this happens? Thanks Laura |

:welcome: to the engineer.
It sounds like, TBH, that the box has died. You'll need an engineer to have a look at it. |

I bet it's a Samsung 2110.

Re: Vbox wont come off standby! Help!
Try unplugging it twice and leave it unplugged for at least 30 seconds each time. When my Samsung 2110 vbox freezes, I find that the first time that I plug it back in, it does as you describe. Unplugging the vbox for a second time, has worked for me so far. It's odd that one power off doesn't work, and I have in the past left it unplugged for 2 minutes on the first unplug with no change, it just always needs to be unplugged twice.

Re: Vbox wont come off standby! Help!
Well the engineer from Virgin Media came out this week and told me that the box had basically blew up!!
I was expecting a call out fee and charge for the new box as ive had it for over 12 months, but no it was free of charge :) took a while for them to come out but now its back to normal and I have the TV again! :D |
Re: Vbox wont come off standby! Help!
It's a rented box. They will repair or replace as long as you use the service. This is one major advantage over sky. Glad you are happy.

Re: Vbox wont come off standby! Help!
My Samsung box locks itself in standby sometimes when i get up in the morning, it did it on my old samsung and it does it on the new Samsung box.
Both different Samsung models, unplug it wait 30 seconds and plug it back in and i'm good to go again! (The Samsung i have now is the newer model) I also lose EPG in the mornings and i suffer from picture freezing and blocks like you get on sat when you have bad signal! :( |
