Intel Atom processor

Is the Atom processor a Duo core?

According to SIW it does.

Quote:

Property Value
Number of CPU(s) One Physical Processor / 2 Cores / 2 Logical Processors / 64 bits
This is the same info as my Core 2 Duo laptop.

When I press ALT+CTRL+DEL that implies two processors.

Re: Intel Atom processor

No, its a single code, but its hyperthreaded which means the OS sees it as two processors.

not all atoms are single core ;)

I did wonder, but aren't the dual cores hyperthread as well so they will show up as quad core?

Me either :)

I just guessed his was the n170 like 99.999% of Atom chips :)

If that Atom had hyperthreading, it would report as 2 cores and 4 logical processors, but it seems not :)

The 200 series are single core. The only dual core Atoms are the 300 series like Dragon has.

Indeed shows up as 4 cpus in windows but it's actually 2 cores with HT.

Managed to grab a half height 2400HD PCI video card as well

Was playing L4D on it the other day, it's playable as long as no one throws a molatov. ;)

Atoms aren't perticullarly quick so don't buy one for a gaming machine or for anything cpu intensive.

Mostly use mine for browsing the internet, email/im/irc and listening to music which it's fine for. ;)
