Dude I mean no offence but hows about we solve one problem before we create another :) you can download a program called everest which will tell you the devices you may want to upgrade the drivers for http://majorgeeks.com/download4181.html

Re: drivers

ok what are the problems? you know what you have done dont you. The drivers are not installed for your network adapter thats why you cant get the net unless you use ethernet to connect just the modem?

What drivers does it say need updating? Is this a branded PC or a home build?

I certainly wouldn`t be surprised if a whole load of drivers were missing zing but surely if the LAN/NIC drivers were missing they wouldn`t have any network connection...regardless of using modem/router?
Or am i missing something?

@roy
Can you check your device manager to see what drivers are missing,if any?
Then you can do what zing suggested and go chase them up with the help of everest.

Re: drivers

How is the router connected? To connect a router to a VM cable modem, you need to do the following:
  1. Unplug the modem from the mains.
  2. Plug the Ethernet cable from the modem to the Internet/WAN port (on most routers, this port is seperate from the others) on the router.
  3. Power the modem up. Wait for the lights to settle.
  4. Power the router up.
  5. Connect one of the LAN ports on the router (there are normally four grouped together) to the Ethernet/LAN port on the PC.
  6. Power the PC up.

Re: drivers

this problem has been spread over a few threads now its all going to get confusing

do you have a printer a scanner or webcam or anything else connected to the usb. In theory the reinstall you have done being a back up one from the oem should have all the machines drivers installed

roystheboy 05-03-2009 11:52

Re: drivers

i did that thats why i am back on here ,i went into the device manager and i dont know what i am looking for but there was something about PCI serial port drivers not installed does that help cheers
