Hp psu 5187-1099
Hello all,
PSU on my pc is shot part number 5187-1099. I am having great difficulty in finding a replacement. Is there another unit I can possibly use? It's a HP pavilion but unsure of the model as it is over a friends house at the minute. Any help appreciated tom |
Re: Hp psu 5187-1099
take it its a tower? that part number points to a bestec psu. Does your board use the dodgy Aux X1 connector?

Re: Hp psu 5187-1099
thanks zinglebarb,
you are spot on its a bestec psu on a tower! any deas of a compatible unit? |
Re: Hp psu 5187-1099
It may be a standard atx psu. can you look where it goes into the board tell me how many cables direct from the psu go into the board and discribe them for me

Re: Hp psu 5187-1099
yeah it will have a 20 pin also. I believe it will be a standard atx psu and you should be able to buy any type. Deffo not a bestec lol

Re: Hp psu 5187-1099
Zing is right. Pavilion desktops generally use ATX PSUs, which yours is. What model Pavilion is it? I know some had to have specific ATX PSUs as the power socket had to be position so that it would fit the plastic of the case at the rear (socket can be at the top or bottom of the back of the PSU, although I thought the ATX standard would define it's proper position!).

Re: Hp psu 5187-1099
hi guys,
thanks for the help so far! The unit has a 4 pin and 20 pin plug into the motherboard, the ebay part is the same but i'm looking for a cheaper solution if poss. thanks again |
Re: Hp psu 5187-1099
Try searching for WINPOWER on ebay... they're cheap, have a good high amperage on the 12v being ATX v2 and comes with a 24/20pin connector as well as a SATA connector... Nothing fancy in the end but I've found them to be reliable for desktops (though I wouldn't put one in a serious gaming maching)
