Leaving VM for Sky, but...

I'm looking to go to Sky (reluctently:td:) when my contract is up, however i do have a few questions regarding equiptment etc.

1. I payed £75 for the V+ box when the Olympics was on last year, but if i stop my VM tv package, will they take back the box (seen as its apparently 'rented')? i'll still be with virgin for broadband.

2. I heard that the SD upscale picture of Sky HD box isn't as good as Virgin, is this overly obivious? and does it affect HD stuff? i have a 32in tv.

3. Anyone got any regrets from moving from Virgin Media to Sky?

im kinda annoyed it only has 2 tuners aswell :(

Any help much appreciated :) ThankYou.

1. Are you recieving broadband through a modem or STB?

2. Is your TV HD ready?

Sorry not enough info, what deals are you swapping? I confess I am currently a sky customer however though I find the number of channel selections numerous finding a channel is rubbish. Sky doesn't even have picture in picture or a transparent menu like my freeview box had. Go into TV Guide and you get only the menu.

If you are stopping the television package, and have any STB, then you'll find that Virgin Media require the STB back - this is specially true for V+ boxes.
As for price of the XL broadband, I suspect you'll drop to the unpackaged price of £35 (http://allyours.virginmedia.com/webs...uct.do?id=3246) but it all depends on your original contract period.

Are people really still using this term? They're just called HDTVs now.

ohhh, so the V+ was a bit of a waste of money really, bummer.

most likely i'll downgrade the broadband or choose a different IP.
VM broadband is very poor when trying to use YouTube in my area anyway.:td:

Not really - the V+ payment covered the installation fee - not the cost of the machine itself.

Depending on your distance from the exchange, the other IPs via ADSL may not be as good.

The Sky+HD EPG is due a major upgrade "imminently"* which will, amongst other things, give it a few features which have long been available on cable & Freeview EPGs: a "mini-TV" in the Guide; full Info for all progs & channels via the search & scan banner, instead of only having Info for the currently viewed prog...

[* Sky's own words. Latest rumours at DS are that it is due in early March...]

Put your post code in here and it will give you an indication of the likely speeds you will get via adsl or adsl2+, Bet they dont match up as well as cable broadband

Think you should just keep what you have got, keep switching seems to cost even more money and the grass isnt always greener on the other side!
