Virgin cable interface to DVD/hard disk recorder
Is it possible to replace the V+ box with an of the shelf DVD/hard disk recorder with inbuilt digital tuners. This would allow recordings to be made directly to DVD which should result in better quality recordings since it cuts out the Digital to analogue and then back to digital process which the V+ box uses. Are there any PC cards which would allow cable TV to be controlled and recorded by a PC

I've moved your post from the "Articles" section, as anything posted there is moderated & has to be approved before it can be seen.
You could connect a Virgin STB to a DVD/HDD recorder (so long as it could record from an external source), but you'd be using analogue connections to do so. You can't replace the Virgin STB itself though - you are only allowed to connect VM-supplied equipment to the cable connection. 3rd party boxes, and cable tuner PC cards, cannot be used. |

Will the DVD recorder encode the V+ recorded program in a format that can be transferred to a PC and then edited?
