Auf Wiedersehen Pet sold to Germany
Classic ITV comedy Auf Wiedersehen Pet is to be screened in Germany for the first time after BBC Worldwide sold a significant package of programming to VoD site T-Online.
The sale, which comprises over 200 hours of content, represents the biggest digital deal to date for the BBC's commercial arm in the country. Auf Wiedersehn Pet was first broadcast on ITV in 1984 and featured seven British migrant construction workers living and working on a German construction site. It starred Crocodile Shoes actor Jimmy Nail and Kevin Whately, who plays Robbie Lewis in ITV1's Inspector Morse spin-off Lewis. Other BBC programming within the slate includes Bafta award-winning sketch show Little Britain, spy drama Spooks and sitcom Coupling. http://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/news/2...s_germany.html Story from Broadcastnow. |

Sorry to sound daft here, if ITV broadcast it, why are BBC selling it? Surely ITV have the rights to the show?

Re: Auf Wiedersehen Pet sold to Germany
Not quite true. I watched the first series of Auf Wiedersehen Pet on BFBS Germany in 1984. Should realy say screened by a German station in Germany. We were stationed about 20 miles from Dusseldorf where the original series was set.
