Networking Multiple Printers
I have a printer that connects to a USB printer server that connects to my wireless router via a cable.
Both my laptops can see the printer. My dad has a desktop that has a USB printer connected to it, now he has a laptop he would like to print from that without the need for the desktop being on. Can I connected a USB hub to the print server and plug the two printers into the hub. I have software for the Server and printers |
Re: Networking Multiple Printers
USB hub won't work as the IP address is allocated to the print server and not the printer...
You'll need to get another printserver.. |
Re: Networking Multiple Printers
I have seen Printer servers than can handle two printers.
Plus I don't think I have a free port |

To be honest I think your going to need to buy a print server with multiple USB ports on it. |

When you create each printer connection you have to choose one of the firmware addresses so data gets sent to the right 'door'. A dumb USB device can't do that. |
