Networking Multiple Printers

I have a printer that connects to a USB printer server that connects to my wireless router via a cable.

Both my laptops can see the printer.

My dad has a desktop that has a USB printer connected to it, now he has a laptop he would like to print from that without the need for the desktop being on.

Can I connected a USB hub to the print server and plug the two printers into the hub.

I have software for the Server and printers

USB hub won't work as the IP address is allocated to the print server and not the printer...

You'll need to get another printserver..

I have seen Printer servers than can handle two printers.

Plus I don't think I have a free port

That'll be down to the hardware/firmware inside the print server. Your print server would have to have the capability of either learning or being told that it's got additional ports attached to it. Otherwise it can't make any association between USB ports and the different printers attatched,

To be honest I think your going to need to buy a print server with multiple USB ports on it.

Agreed. I have a D-Link print server that can handle 2 x USB & 1 Parallel. Each port has a different internal address within the server. It can only work through firmware so the server knows where to send the data.

When you create each printer connection you have to choose one of the firmware addresses so data gets sent to the right 'door'. A dumb USB device can't do that.
