Removing Dual Boot
I had 2x bootable drive, Vista (main), XP (secondary).
I have taken out the XP drive, as I no longer need it in this computer, but I am still getting the dual boot menu of Vista and XP when I boot up my computer. I have tried fixing the startup using the Windows Vista disc, but that didn't work. Any ideas? |
Re: Removing Dual Boot
Not sure if it's still current but you could use BCEDIT.EXE (via the command prompt) that would show you the boot hierachy and allow you to edit it

Re: Removing Dual Boot
It cannot be found according to Vista.

Re: Removing Dual Boot
You'll need to run command prompt as an admin first I believe

Re: Removing Dual Boot
Sorry, I typed it wrong. I have it open now, but I don't know what to do.

Re: Removing Dual Boot
Look for the XP entry and delete it... or post the whole thing on here and someone will be able to tell you exactly which bit to remove..

Re: Removing Dual Boot
msconfig boot delete xp

I can see the Windows XP entry, I just don't know how to remove it.

Re: Removing Dual Boot
According to msconfig, Vista is the only bootable thing, but the boot menu still shows on startup.
