Mcafee Security Centre Removal

my Samsung NC10 comes with mcafee security centre, this prompts me to install on every boot. (stange thing thou when I tried to copy a file from a USB stick it threw up a warning about spyware etc, other files went with no problem)

But I don't want it and would like to uninstall it.

I have downloaded the removal tool from there site so,

Do I unstall the program via the add/remove programmes, then run the removal tool if there are any problems?

Do I run the removal tool on it own and this removals the SW?

Re: Mcafee Security Centre Removal

I'm probably the least techie minded member to answer you but I had McAfee pre-installed on my laptop and it was a pain. I decided to uninstall it using the built in option but after I had done so and I tried to install Avast I kept being told that I still needed to uninstall McAfee. I ended up using the following link which sorted the problem immediately.

http://download.mcafee.com/products/...tches/MCPR.exe

I also kept a note of the following advise, though in my case I didn't need it.
Quote:

If for any reason there appears a red X during the uninstall, go to the following location for more advanced uninstall instructions involving the registry.

Sorry I can't give you a link to the site I found the above on but I just made a note of the instructions and not the site address. :(
