If you can run an ethernet cable from the PC to the router, then yes it will work.
Generally speaking any Ethernet adapter will work with any router.

Re: Router Cable Modem and dlink adapter card

The picture suggests that the driver is loaded correctly and the problem is either cabling or the router.
Can you move the problem computer next to the router and use a known good cable between the two?

Hi, try switching off windows firewall, right click on LAN select properties, click on advanced tab, click settings button and switch off windows firewall then try it. I'm assuming that you have some kind of internet security?

Re: Router Cable Modem and dlink adapter card

Is it a PCI card or integrated adapter on motherboard?

If onboard motherboard, what make / model is the motherboard?

Here's the link to the viaarena driver download, but if onboard my first port of call would be MB manufacture website.

Unsure of this one. If it's an onboard card, is it disabled within BIOS.
Got a funny feeling windows won't see it at all if that was the case, but might be worth checking anyway.

so it should work ?

Re: Router Cable Modem and dlink adapter card

The fact that it's listed under the network connections with status of unplugged indicates that at a Windows level the driver is working fine.

That statement also implies that the problem is in the cabling. Also, in your pictures of the router there are three cables in the lan ports on the back but only two lan port leds lit on the front.

So try the spare 4th port on the router????

Test #1:
Move your laptop by PC #3 and test with PC 3's network cable and see if the laptop works. If this works, there's something wrong with PC #3. Be it network adapter or windows problem.

Test 2:
Find out which network cable is used by PC 3 at the router, remove it and plug in your laptop into the same port with a different network cable and test. If this works as well as test 1 failure, then the network cable between the router and PC #3 is duff. If it doesn't work there's something wrong with the RJ45 port on the router that PC#3 uses (try the spare port on router)
