Using two Netgear WGR614v6 routers
Hello all
I have 2 Netgear WGR614v6 routers, one of which is plugged into my VM cable modem working fine. The range isn't too great, however. I'd like to use the other one as a wireless access point somewhere else in the house, effectively extending the existing wireless range. Does anyone know if this is possible? Netgear's site has some stuff about wireless APs but the advice there only applies where the wireless router is connected by ethernet to the router connected to the net (which is useless for me). Any thoughts? |

ermm no, I dont think this router surports bridging. Unless u link a cable between them!
Method is like this. enter the 1st routers ( main ) MAC code into the 2nd router. set the name the same on both routers ( ssid ) set password the same now u have just created a wireless bridge :) the pc / laptop will conect to the strongest signal :) |

Thanks Laurenced for asking that question and many thanks keyholder for that info, would you think the same bridging could be achieved with a Belkin N1 router and the Netgear WGR614v9?
Although I need my access point for the Belkin wi fi phone, any ideas? |

yes both channels need to be the same :)
However ive spotted an error on my part, The Main router, Should have the 2nd routers MAC code entered into it. NOT the other way round :D i shudnt post whilst falling asleep lol :o: easy way to remember, everything on the 2nd router should be the same as the MAIN router / AP :) |
