Something seriously wrong with my computer

Hi all :)

I'm using winrar now to extract the fear 2 demo into a new folder due to it having problems running as normal for some reason.
Anyway, the file is like 1.85 gigs in size, I'm extracting it to a new folder and it's taking absolutely ages lol.
I used to winrar miles quicker with my older 4400x2 cpu(not lieing).
I have
4 gigs of mem
e7300 cpu dual core
p5ql pro motherboard
4850 ati gfx card.

Why so slow?
It's with everything in winrar, seriously it used to be miles quicker with my 4400x2 amd cpu, something wrong here.
Any ideas any1?
To exxtract this 1.85 gig demo to a new folder in winrar, it's taken upto now 9 minuetes?
Only done 79% too , so overall it will take probably 12 mins to extract a 1.85 gig file.
Wtf.

I had a similar thing happen last week, cancelled the extract and restarted, it flew the second time, still have no idea why it went on a go slow

One major cause especially with uncompressing large files is disk write and access speed. If your HDD's slow, or in serious need of defrag it can really slow down such a procedure...Another thing I do is I un-rar files from one drive to another, that way the drive isn't trying to read/write to the same drive at the same time..

It amuses me when idiots put rars in a rar to save a few kbs.
