bt voyager 205 router for dial-upconnection?

Right, I've still had no luck getting connected even using dial up. I get the message there is a hardware failure when I try to dial-up the web, ther's no dial tone on the landline either when it's plugged in, and no sound when it's trying to dial up...

Having had a good hard look at the PC, the socket i've been using has not been the correct one, it's for ethernet/wireless. I don't think there IS a socket I can use for dial-up, so I've spoken to my dad, he's given me his old bt voyager 205 router. Can I use this as an external modem just for dial-up?I don't have a manual for this, but I do have a CD, if anyone can point me to a manual anywhere for this , I'd be grateful.Cos I need all the advice I can get at the moment, as you've probably guessed!!!!!!!!!

To use dial up you will need an old style phone dialler modem. Many are still sold as if they are for a fax service.

A Broadband ADSL modem, inbuilt into many routers will not provide a dial up service. That is different technology.
