360 not connecting to Belkin F5D8233-4 router
 

Hi,

I recently bought a Belkin F5D8233-4 N wireless router for my network in the UK from my Currys.

I am connecting the xbox 360 up in the wired ports on the back of the router. When it tests the connection it fails and the suggestions from the xbox 360 does not help. Also the NXE on the xbox really gets rid of the features on the blades system that i need, they cut down the network settings, so i don't know what is wrong with it.

Is there particular settings i should use for this Belkin router?

Also i do not have an ip address for the xbox as it can't even connect.

Press the X button on your controller. You'll get the old style blades. They are still there, just hidden. Like you I prefer them to the NXE when it comes to getting to the settings.

As charlie said 'what error messages are you getting?'

Also, if your xbox360 is not connecting at all this could be due to the fact of WEP etc security on your router which needs to be input into your xbox360 settings.

WEP on a cable?

Is everything else connecting to the internet? PC etc....

Thought he was connecting wireless (as he's using a wireless router) just mis-read. No harm done. :)

DHCP is probably playing up. Try entering the IP address, subnet and gateway ip's in manually.
Examples for many routers would be :

IP : 192.168.1.105
Subnet : 255.255.255.0
Gateway : 192.168.1.1

You'll need to find out your real gateway address using ipconfig from command prompt if you have a Windows pc connected to the router at the same time.
