Belkin N V Belkin G Router

I have a Belkin G router and so far have had a good solid performance from this router never had a problem with it in around 3 years.

Just got a laptop a few months ago and although not had that many problems with connecting to the wireless part I dont always get the best speed when downloading and watching streaming media.

Internet speed is 20meg and I usually get this but I do now and again get crap speeds from 3 meg to 16 meg, its much worse during school holidays and sundays. taking into account that some days I get dropped down due to STM.

But for sometime have been looking at the N and N1 versions and although it gives all the selling points on the box, looking at reviews on the net they are 50/50 mixed some good some bad.

Does anyone have one of these routers?

3 pc's in the house are running through ethernet/XP Pro while the laptop is wirelss and running Vista

I heard that the Belkin N/N1 have problems with Vista?

Also would the N versions have any benefits over the G version I already have? I do plan on going to 50MB BB once its in my area I heard the G versions only support 20mb.

Gav, if you go up to 50Mb you'll get an N router free (I say free but you'll be paying something towards it in installation costs). Your 3-16Meg speeds are probably due to congestion or the 50Mb upgrade process. Getting an N router won't solve your poor speeds on 20Mb broadband.
