Linksys WRT160N help
Hi
I'm hoping someone will be able to offer some advice on this problem. I've just bought a new router (Linksys WRT-160N) and for some reason it seems to be blocking access to some web sites (eg www.game.co.uk) When the PC is connected direclty to the cable modem, the web site loads up without any problems. When the PC is connected through the router, the site won't load and a time out error message is shown. I have even tried flashing the firmware to DD-WRT. Traceroute connected directly to modem: C:\Documents and Settings\Brian>tracert www.game.co.uk Tracing route to www.game.co.uk [213.221.183.69] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 7 ms 10 ms 7 ms 10.42.192.1 2 10 ms 13 ms 7 ms osr01sand-v11.network.virginmedia.net [62.31.176.225] 3 13 ms 13 ms 10 ms osr01wolv-tenge74.network.virginmedia.net [62.30.254.57] 4 12 ms 10 ms 10 ms man-bb-a-ge-510-0.network.virginmedia.net [213.105.174.145] 5 16 ms 10 ms 14 ms man-bb-b-ae0-0.network.virginmedia.net [62.253.187.178] 6 22 ms 15 ms 16 ms xe-3-1-0-0.man11.ip.tiscali.net [77.67.65.141] 7 25 ms 15 ms 15 ms xe-5-1-0.lon10.ip.tiscali.net [89.149.187.25] 8 15 ms 16 ms 18 ms barrysworld-gw.ip.tiscali.net [213.200.77.66] 9 22 ms 19 ms 18 ms gm-sh-6509-2.game.net [213.221.179.117] 10 * * * Request timed out. 11 * * * Request timed out. 12 ^C (Stopped at this point as they all time out) Traceroute connected through router: C:\Documents and Settings\Brian>tracert www.game.co.uk Tracing route to www.game.co.uk [213.221.183.69] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms DD-WRT [192.168.1.1] 2 13 ms 12 ms 8 ms 10.42.192.1 3 8 ms 7 ms 9 ms osr01sand-v15.network.virginmedia.net [62.30.254.161] 4 12 ms 10 ms 10 ms osr01wolv-tenge74.network.virginmedia.net [62.30.254.57] 5 12 ms 11 ms 12 ms man-bb-a-ge-130-0.network.virginmedia.net [195.182.178.65] 6 11 ms 11 ms 11 ms man-bb-b-ae0-0.network.virginmedia.net [62.253.187.178] 7 * * * Request timed out. 8 * * * Request timed out. 9 ^C The error message is at: http://www.bjhurdman.myby.co.uk/Untitled-1.jpg Any thoughts appreciated. Re: Linksys WRT160N help
There appears to be a routing issue on the VM network.
On the newsgroups, support staff are looking for traceroutes done without the router connected so that they can pass this info up the chain. If you post your traceroutes in virginmedia.support.broadband.cable without the router attached it should get fixed a lot quicker. In the meantime using the proxy in your browser should let you access the sites. webcache.virginmedia.com port 8080 |
Re: Linksys WRT160N help
Thanks for the info.
Is this the same problem though? It works when the router is not plugged in. Cheers. |
Re: Linksys WRT160N help
Do you have the most current firmware on the router?
Maybe try entering opendns IPs in the DNS settings on the router? |
Re: Linksys WRT160N help
Cheers, will try the OpenDNS
