How to boost the upload speed
Im using the XL PACKAGE BROADBAND SERVICE
Im also on a network between 2-3 computers(Netgear router) I was trying to upload some files to megaupload.com which is one of the leading online storage website, I suppose to get upload speed around 700KB/sec or more, but the upload speed never over the 100KB/sec(70KB/S TO 85KB/S average). I always upload the file during the 2AM-11AM, so the "speed capping" is not the problem. So, is there any one can help me to work it out? By the way, the download rate is around 2200kb to 2400kb, therefore, my location should be close enough to the virginmedia's local cable server. Thanks! |
Re: How to boost the upload speed
85Kb/s is roughly the right speed. i think you are mixing up your bits and bytes !!!
the upstream is 768Kbps and 75-90Kb/s is a good speed if you factor in all elements. Impz |
Re: How to boost the upload speed
it looks like you are getting your kb (kilobits) mixed up with your KB (kilobytes).
70-85KB/s is correct and you are getting your full upload speed (minus a little for overheads). http://www.matisse.net/bitcalc/ this is a calculator that will convert bits to bytes but basically tou just have to divide the bits by 8 to get the bytes. virgin upload=768kb=96KB Edit:- LOL, got beaten to it. |
Re: How to boost the upload speed
Very max I have ever seen is 92Kb/s

Re: How to boost the upload speed
Just to piggy back onto this, my upload on my 20mb service is down at 22k/s which seems very low. My downloads seem fine, despite being unusuallt high this past month. Any ideas?
