Recent Upgrade = Worse connection :S

Last week i upgraded from a 2mb connection to a 10mb connection. I use my pc for gaming quite often and i have a stupidly high ping. I also can't connect to XBL. What could be causing this? I also never get 10mb, 6 or 7 at max.

Post what modem you have and your power levels from your config pages of your modem. The should be a sticker on the bottom saying what model.

Open a browser and in the address bar put or click the link > http://192.168.100.1/ the password and username are both root if required.

What I want you to post is the Downstream power levels including the SNR and the Upstream power levels for me thanks.

DO NOT POST YOUR MAC ADDRESS OR SERIAL NUMBER

The model number of the modem is E08C013.00, i dont know where i find these power levels you are talking about though. On that link i get 'Cable modem', 'MAC address', 'Serial number', 'Boot code version', 'software version' and 'hardware version'.

Sorry here it is:
Downstream Receive Power Level : 3.6 dBmV
Downstream SNR : 37.1 dB
Upstream transmit Power Level : 47.5 dBmV

Re: Recent Upgrade = Worse connection :S

I have looked around on various problems and other people with the same thing (good connection, terrible pings) said it has jsut gone away after a while, so i guess il wait a week or so and hope it stops.

That's an Ambit 256 modem, the newest model that Virgin push out to all new customers of the 2Mb, 10Mb and 20Mb service.

Give it a week or so for the connection to settle, and if it's still playing up, get on to tech support and get them to figure out what's wrong!

For the record, the model number of the modem is not what you printed (that's probably the manufacturer number), but there's a white sticker that has Ambit 256 on it.
