poor resloution on my v-box
hi guys
i just bought a philihps 42" 1080p LCD tv. i have the baby virgin package with phone, broadband and cable on the standard Samsung v-box but the resolution that is coming out on the tv is really quite poor. some channels seem better than others but on the whole i am not impressed. i have set the tv to the highest and sharpest i can get but think maybe its just the v-box is quite low in resolution. would this be right? is replacing the standard scart cable from v-box to the tv the way forward or is it not going to make any real difference? or would it be best to try upgrade the v-box itself to something better? any ideas? |
Re: poor resloution on my v-box
The vbox outputs an image with 576 lines of vertical resolution, whereas your tv will only display one with 1080 lines, that means your TV has to upscale the image to 1080 lines in order to display it. How good the image is on your TV depends on how good your TV is at upscaling. Some TVs are really bad at it, and SDTV looks poor on them, others do a pretty good job and it'll look quite good.
To get a better picture I'd upgrade to a V+ box, which will upscale internally and usually does a far better job than most TVs will. |
Re: poor resloution on my v-box
ive got my v+ box hooked up to a 40 inch Tosh via HDMI cable and the picture is very good, better than sky if i,m honest imo.
i,m no expert, far from it, but connecting through a scart, is the most inferior connection to a device, in terms of image quality. i dont know if you have the facility to connect up via component (RGB) leads, but if you could you should a vast improvement. i personally never use scart anymore, unless is for a tiny portable in the kids bedroom. |
Re: poor resloution on my v-box
Scart looks dreadful. Get a hdmi cable plugged in and set up for either 720 or 1080 hdmi high def. Scart looks bad enough on my 26" when you've seen what hdmi can do.
